Andrew Parkes, Sarah Parkes, Andrew Ordish and Sam Parkes travelled to Albury recently for the National Carbon Farming Conference & Expo, a three day event that has become one of the most important dates on the calendar for anyone working across carbon and agriculture in Australia.

Now in its second decade under the direction of Louisa Kiely of Carbon Management Services, the conference has grown from a niche gathering of early adopters into a mainstream event exploring the intersection of farming, science and carbon markets. This year's program widened that scope even further, bringing producers, scientists, policymakers and investors together to look beyond soil carbon alone and into the full range of opportunities shaping a lower carbon future for agriculture.

For the CFM team, the value was in the conversations as much as the sessions. Discussions ranged across carbon markets and how they are shifting, the growing focus on soil health as both an environmental and productivity asset, and what genuine on farm change looks like once policy and science are put into practice.



With Australian agriculture continuing to navigate new emissions targets, conferences like this play an important role in turning big picture policy into practical decisions producers can act on. It was a valuable few days for the team, and a chance to bring fresh thinking back to CFM's own operations and client conversations.
